Noelle Lambert Named as one of Ten L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth, Recognized For Her Work in Founding The Born To Run Foundation

(Boston, MA) – October 19, 2020 – Today, Noelle Lambert, was named one of ten 2020 Women of Worth honorees by the world’s No. 1 beauty brand, L’Oreal Paris. In receiving this recognition, The Born to Run Foundation, which Noelle established after losing her left leg in a moped accident in 2016, will receive $10,000 from L’Oreal, and the potential to receive another $25,000 through an online voting program starting today through November 27th. The Born to Run Foundation donates specialized athletic prostheses to amputees so that they can lead active lives. The prostheses donations include running blades, water legs and arms for yoga and weight training.

“I am extremely honored to be a L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth honoree because it will help raise awareness about the importance of providing young amputees with specialized artificial limbs that can be so costly for many families,” said Noelle Lambert. “My accident was the best thing that ever happened to me as it has made me a better athlete, a better teammate, a better daughter and a better friend. It has given me the opportunity to help other young amputees see an active future for themselves.”

At the time of her accident, Noelle was a Division 1 college athlete playing lacrosse at UMass Lowell. She made a full comeback to the team after physical rehabilitation and received support from other foundations that provided her with athletic prostheses so that she could participate in sports. She then made up her mind to help other young amputees obtain specialized athletic prosthetic devices so that they can live active and fulfilling lives and established The Born to Run Foundation. After graduating from college, Noelle decided to turn her athletic ability to track and field. She is now a member of the U.S. Paralympic team and is currently training for the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo in the 100-meter race in Track and Field. On November 13, 2019, Noelle set a new U.S. record at the World Paralympic Championship games in Dubai running the 100-meter in 16.31 seconds.

Noelle and the other honorees will be featured in a first of its kind dedicated one-hour NBC special, airing nationwide on Wednesday, November 25 at 8 PM ET / 7 PM CT. The broadcast will bring together L’Oréal Paris’ notable roster of spokeswomen to highlight each Honoree’s unique mission and bring their inspirational experiences to life.

“This year has given us a greater appreciation and respect for those who dedicate their lives to serving their communities. That’s why it’s more important than ever that the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth platform continue to shine a spotlight on the tenacity and courage of women who are tackling injustice and channeling painful experiences into something truly beautiful and worthy,” said Ali Goldstein, L’Oréal Paris USA President. “In the fifteenth anniversary year for the program, we are honored to welcome the 2020 Women of Worth into our family, helping to elevate their stories and bring additional resources to their communities.”

About The Born to Run Foundation

The Born to Run Foundation was established to help young amputees obtain specialized prosthetic devices so that they can live fulfilling lives. Founder Noelle Lambert of Manchester, New Hampshire, created the foundation after she lost a leg in a moped accident in 2016. As an athlete herself and former Division 1 college lacrosse player at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Noelle wanted to ensure that young amputees who cannot afford costly athletic prosthetics have the opportunity to have an active lifestyle.
